The batters had a difficult road to survival on the surfaces in the USA and the Caribbean during the ninth T20 World Cup. It was clear that all of the competing teams were having trouble, as even the most intelligent hitters from each side struggled mightily to find any kind of mojo during their time in the middle. But in this regard, Bangladeshi hitters were the most obviously struggling. They had the lowest cumulative batting average (15.89) of all the teams that made it to the Super Eights, which is backed up by absurd statistics.
Vice captain and elite pacer Taskin Ahmed brought attention to the problem, stating that every team’s batting unit encountered difficulties in their games, especially in the US. Embracing candour, Taskin said he had never seen the batters go through such a protracted slump in his ten years with Bangladesh and he hoped for a quick recovery.
Looking at the numbers, I believe that every [team’s] hitting unit suffered this time around in the USA when it came to batting. In the West Indies, we had superior batting wickets. In my 10 years as a Bangladeshi player, I have not witnessed a longer losing streak for the hitters. At the airport in Dhaka, Taskin told reporters, “I hope it goes away quickly.”
In response to additional negative queries, the prominent cricket player—who took eight wickets throughout the competition—honestly acknowledged that their hitters in Twenty20 Internationals had never truly amassed noteworthy totals to be proud of. He commended them for their continued attempts to become better gradually. Taskin told the reporters that they were right in their irritation and advised them to look past the negative aspects. He reassured that the Bangladeshi squad was determined to improve its performance going forward and stressed that the encouragement and well-wishes of their fellow countrymen will be crucial in raising the team’s spirits.
“Our T20Is have never had outstanding statistics. We’re making modest progress. We are already in the bad, therefore we can’t just focus on the negative. Our goal is to obtain a “plus.” It’s understandable that you’re frustrated. You’ll receive a nice win from us. You must continue to believe in us. We’ll give it everything we’ve got,” the right-arm swiftly said.
Shakib, Mahmadullah are great team men: Taskin
Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah, two veteran players, had been playing below average, and the seamer said that the team suffered on the pitch but not off it as a result of their poor form. He underlined that when important players fall short of expectations, it’s common for a team’s on-field performance to suffer.
Though not off the field, the squad was impacted by the seniors’ poor play. They make excellent teammates. We spent 47 days together as a team. Away from the field, everything was good. When key players are out of form, it is common for a team to experience difficulties. I’m hoping we can bounce back from this and perform better very soon,” Taskin said.
