The 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on December 15. To develop their teams, each of the five franchises has a budget of INR 15 crore, up from INR 13.5 crore the previous season.
Top international players will be up for sale at the mini-auction, including West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, New Zealand fast bowler Lea Tahuhu, and England captain Heather Knight. All-rounder Sneh Rana, legspinner Poonam Yadav, and batsman Veda Krishnamurthy are some of the well-known Indian players who would be considering possible bids.
The Gujarat Giants, who placed last in the first two editions, will have the most money, INR 4.4 crore, to spend on rebuilding their team after cutting up to seven players from their roster. The Delhi Capitals, led by Meg Lanning, and runners-up in 2023 and 2024, have the smallest purse, INR 2.5 crore.
Danni Wyatt-Hodge of England was the lone player who moved during the preseason trading window that ended in early November, as RCB acquired her from UP Warriorz (UPW) in an all-cash transaction. In 2024, Wyatt-Hodge did not play a single game for UPW, who had placed fourth the previous season.
The organizers divided the 22 games of the second season between Bengaluru and New Delhi, while they conducted the first WPL entirely in Mumbai.
According to the revised women’s Future Tours Program for the 2025–29 cycle, the three-week fourth edition of the five-team event will take place in February–March 2025 before finding a new window in January–February 2026.
