Manager Tata Martino of Inter Miami gave head coach Lionel Scaloni of Argentina good news regarding his star player Lionel Messi’s availability. Messi hasn’t played for Argentina since they defeated Colombia in the Copa America 2024 final in July. He had to leave the pitch in the second half due to an ankle ligament injury.
Messi has already participated in three games since making his Inter Miami comeback. After making his comeback in the opening game, he scored two goals in a 3-1 victory against Philadelphia Union, bringing his season total to 14 goals and 14 assists in Major League Soccer.
He also missed the September international window as a result of his injury. “He has the games with the Argentinian national team in addition to the games with us,” said Martino on Friday.
Martino declared that Messi will be fully healthy for the MLS playoffs, adding, “Leo is going to get better and better as he adds 90 minutes.”
“Leo doesn’t obviously need to perform distinct physical activity during training, but he does require a competitive rhythm, which makes me believe that he will do well in the playoffs because he plays for both the Argentine national team and us in addition to us. We thus have great expectations that he will be in excellent form going into the play-offs.”
With 64 points from 30 games, Miami leads both the Supporters’ Shield and the Eastern Conference rankings at the moment. They’re also going to shatter the record for the most points scored in a season in the Major League Soccer.
“This week, we are undoubtedly in a strong position to attempt to take first place overall. We’ll monitor the games’ progress and our demands as they arise. When the FIFA date arrives after these three games, certain players will undoubtedly continue to compete, but the rest of us will have a week to recuperate, so we will prioritize the three games,” Martino stated. It works well to prioritize the hunt for the objective first.
