Following a traffic collision, West Ham attacker Michail Antonio is “conscious and communicating” in a stable condition in the hospital, the Premier League team said on Saturday. “Close supervision at a central London hospital” was the Hammers’ statement regarding the 34-year-old. Following a traffic collision this afternoon in the Essex region, West Ham United can announce that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition, according to a club statement.
Michael is presently being closely monitored at a hospital in central London and is aware and able to communicate.
“We respectfully request that everyone respect Michail and his family’s privacy at this trying time.
“The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course.”
Following a previous statement indicating an accident had occurred, this was West Ham’s second comment on the subject.
Numerous Premier League teams expressed their support for Antonio on social media.
“Everyone at Arsenal sends their love, support and well wishes to Michail, his family and West Ham United,” Arsenal said on X, with Chelsea and Liverpool echoing the same words.
The Jamaican international, who was born in London, joined West Ham in 2015 and has since scored 83 goals in 323 games.
In 15 games this season, he has only scored once, during the Hammers’ 4-1 triumph against Ipswich at home in early October.
Under then-manager David Moyes, the former Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest striker helped the team win the Europa Conference League in 2023.
On Monday, West Ham, currently led by Julen Lopetegui, will play Wolves.
