India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a light-hearted moment with Australia great Adam Gilchrist on Sunday.

Australia great Adam Gilchrist and India batsman-wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant had a humorous time together on Sunday. Legendary Australian wicketkeeper Gilchrist, a member of the panel of experts for broadcaster Star Sports, was caught off guard when Pant came up behind him and used both hands to shut his eyes before play began on Day 3. Gilchrist and Pant had a tender embrace as soon as Gilchrist realized it was Pant standing behind him. “I was surprised there, didn’t know who was behind me,” Gilchrist subsequently remarked in reference to what that happened.
On day three of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, Australia defeated India by a resounding 10 wickets thanks to the effective usage of short balls by captain Pat Cummins, who picked five wickets for fifty-seven in his fourteen overs. Australia also squared the five-match series 1-1 as a result of the outcome.
After starting at 128/5, India was only able to score 47 runs before Australia quickly ended their second innings in 36.5 overs, with Nitish Kumar Reddy continuing to be a standout scorer with 42.
On day three, Starc got a full ball to barely straighten off the seam and take Pant’s outside edge to second slip, dismissing him for 28, quickly ending India’s hopes of escaping difficulty. After finding the glove edge of Ravichandran Ashwin’s attempted hook, Cummins’ bouncer strategy succeeded, as Alex Carey caught him easily behind.
Even though Reddy appeared to be playing strong defense, Cummins’ bouncer plan paid off when he cleared the shoulder edge of a tangled Harshit Rana and was caught by Gully with ease, only an over after Starc had struck him in the head with a quick lifter.
After hitting Scott Boland over long-on for a one-bounce four and hooking a Cummins bumper over backward square leg for six, Reddy gave India a slim lead. Reddy arched back to ramp over slips, but the third man grabbed him, and Cummins had the final laugh.
At mid-wicket, Boland mistimed Mohammed Siraj to Travis Head, who backedpedaled and fell on his back to finish the job, ending India’s innings. After Australia defeated India in Adelaide, both sides will now have two more days off before playing their third match on December 14 at The Gabba in Brisbane.
