Australian cricketer David Warner opened up on the Delhi Capitals Podcast in their most recent edition. The seasoned IPL player had a free-flowing interview during which he talked extensively about his time with the Delhi-based team, his love of India, his most recent World Cup experience as an Australian, and many other topics.
During Tuesday’s T20 World Cup 2024 encounter between Australia and Oman at Kensington Oval in Barbados, the last World Cup Warner rose to the top of the Australian T20I run-scoring chart.
“I feel fantastic. Now is the time to continue playing as much franchise and IPL cricket as I can. Maintaining your place after more than ten years of play is quite difficult. After playing in his final World Cup for Australia, Warner stated, “I think Australian cricket’s going to be in good stead for the future if we can get some young guys coming through, who have potential.”
Regarding his tenure with the Delhi Capitals, Warner stated, “Delhi has played a significant role in my life.” When I initially started, they gave me a chance. And I am here, too, nearing the conclusion of my career. Thus, I will always be grateful.”
He went on, “I had guys like AB de Villiers, Glenn McGrath, Paul Collingwood, Daniel Vettori, and Andrew McDonald, who’s now my Australian coach, when I first came to Delhi.” These men filled me in on all there is to know about life on the road, particularly with family and without; coping techniques are very important when it comes to day-to-day activities, managing your workload, and striking a balance between business and personal life. As a result, whenever you gather together as a team, it almost feels as though you’re a part of the furniture. I know I’m being that responsible if I can give back as little or as much as I can.
“I absolutely love it,” the Australian batter remarked, talking about how he fell in love with India. It is a well-planned mess.”
“I knew that if I played well, I could be here for a long time, so I started embracing India the first time I came for the IPL.” The size of India is something I was unaware of. I adore people; it’s amazing. Everyone says yes here, and nothing is impossible. Even the most challenging assignments may be given to them, and they will complete them. He clarified, “And I’m just like, it’s crazy.”
Warner’s passion for India is evident in everything he does, including creating viral Instagram videos, dancing to Indian music, and speaking Hindi. Warner said when asked which of Baahubali, Pushpa, or KGF was his favorite: “They’re all incredible, so it’s difficult to pick just one. And I believe that every performer, even the lads, is amazing in that.”
