During his ten-over period in the third ODI against India in Ahmedabad, experienced spinner Adil Rashid showed off his skill with the ball by taking four wickets. Rashid took advantage of Ahmedabad’s playing conditions to get rid of Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya after deceiving Virat Kohli with a beauty.
Oddly enough, though, Adil Rashid was among the players who went unsold in last year’s IPL big auction. Here are three clubs that might seek the English spinner as an injured substitute as he steals the show with his performance.

1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Why can RCB target Adil Rashid?
Josh Hazlewood’s injury worries Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as the right-arm bowler is expected to miss the 2025 Indian Premier League. It wouldn’t be shocking if Hazlewood missed portion of the tournament since he hasn’t fully healed from a side injury.
But in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Lungi Ngidi, Yash Dayal, Nuwan Thushara, and the young Rasikh Dar, RCB has a respectable fast bowling unit. So, even if Hazlewood is out by injury, they can still control their speed department.
2. Mumbai Indians
Why can MI target Adil Rashid?
Due to a fractured L4 vertebra, the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians suffered a significant blow when their star spinner, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, was sidelined for at least four months.
In order to replace the Afghan spin prodigy in their IPL 2025 lineup, MI is looking for a good spin bowler. In Ghazanfar’s absence, Mitchell Santner of the Mumbai Indians may be in charge of their spin department.
Will Jacks and Karn Sharma are MI’s other spin unit possibilities, but aside from the Kiwi star, they don’t seem like a very strong unit. More significantly, since 2023, their lone leg spinner Karn has been a complete letdown in the competition. Therefore, given his recent dismal results, Adil Rashid may be a viable alternative for MI.
3. Gujarat Titans
Why can GT target Adil Rashid?
Gerald Coetzee, the star fast bowler for the Gujarat Titans, will not be participating in the ICC Champions Trophy because of a groin injury. The Gujarat Titans paid INR 2.40 crores for the South African bowler.
He has experienced several injury setbacks over his career, though, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he missed the IPL 2025, which is just a few days away.
To strengthen their spin department in such a situation, the Gujarat Titans, who already have a great fast bowling core of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Kagiso Rabada, may choose to include Rashid in their lineup.
