Todd Greenberg will succeed Nick Hockley as Cricket Australia’s CEO when Hockley retires at the end of the summer, as the announcement has stated.
The front-runner to succeed Hockley has long been Greenberg, the CEO of the National Rugby League and the current CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association.

Although he played first-grade cricket in New South Wales, he has a close contact with the players because of his present position. He has vast expertise managing broadcast partners, sponsors, stadiums, and live events thanks to his previous roles as NRL CEO and Stadium Australia’s general manager.
In 2022, he accompanied Hockley on a visit of Pakistan when Australia returned to play international cricket there for the first time since 1998. He also had a significant role in the most recent MOU between the CA and the ACA.
The appointment delighted CA chairman Mike Baird.
“I’m delighted Todd Greenberg will join Cricket Australia as Chief Executive Officer,” Baird stated.
“With his background in club and stadium administration, his time as the CEO of the Australian Cricketers’ Association, and his stint as the head of the National Rugby League, Todd will bring a wealth of knowledge to the post.
He is also known for fostering innovation and commercial expansion, as seen by his introduction of the NRLW and the State of Origin to Melbourne.
“Todd’s enthusiasm for cricket and his vision to build on the successes of the previous few years and continue the game’s growth greatly impressed the recruitment panel and CA Board as we enter a period of great opportunity.”
“I would like to thank Nick Hockley who will leave the game in a position of great strength at the end of the season with important foundations including our broadcast rights deal, MOU and seven-year content strategy in place.”
After defeating a field of applicants from both Australia and beyond, Greenberg expressed his excitement about assuming the new position as head of CA’s administration.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to take on this enormously important role in Australian sport and to further my involvement with a game I’ve loved since childhood,” Greenberg said.
“Cricket is experiencing a very exciting period right now, with the game’s explosive global growth opening up amazing opportunities and posing some challenges to keep Australian cricket at the top of the game.”
“The game has solid foundations because of the present administration’s efforts. From neighborhood playgrounds to the largest stadiums in the country, I want to make sure we maintain this momentum so Australian cricket keeps growing.
“I’m grateful to all those at the Australian Cricketers’ Association where we formed positive and productive partnerships across the game, and I look forward to continuing and enriching these relationships for the betterment of cricket.”
