According to a board statement, Sri Lanka will hold its inaugural men’s T10 tournament from December 12 to 22. Although much of the earlier preparations had focused on women’s cricket, SLC has long had dreams of hosting a T10 event.
However, now that T Ten Global Sports is a partner, the board is optimistic that it will launch a T10 competition for men in December. Six clubs will participate in the draft, which is currently scheduled for November 10; this is one more franchise than has participated in the Lanka Premier League’s five incarnations, which is Sri Lanka’s premier T20 tournament. It is anticipated that players from abroad would participate.
“I am confident that the first ever draft of the Lanka T10 Super League is going to set the platform for an exciting and entertaining tournament, which will add color to the Sri Lankan cricketing calendar and bring in a new experience to our players and fans, alike,” Shammi Silva, president of the SLC, said in the release
In the later rounds of the draft, one up-and-coming talent from either Zimbabwe or the West Indies will be chosen because T Ten Global Sports also operates in both countries.
Between the conclusion of the second Test in South Africa and the beginning of a white-ball series in New Zealand in late December, there will be an 11-day gap during which the T10 event will take place. As a result, the majority of Sri Lanka’s best men’s players, if not all of them, ought to be able to attend this competition.
