On the shortened first day of the Kingston Test, Kemar Roach stunned Bangladesh early on, but West Indies lost a couple more wickets due to poor catches. Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain were undefeated at 50 and 12, respectively, as Bangladesh finished at 69 for 2.
Because of the soggy outfield at Sabina Park, the game started five hours later than planned at 3 p.m. local time. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the captain of Bangladesh, decided to bat on a beautiful day with just 30 overs available due to the delayed start. But in the first 30 minutes, the visitors lost two wickets.

The first hitter out was Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who was caught behind for two after a diving effort by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva. After that, Roach left and took the edge after dismissing Mominul Haque with a ball that swung into the left-hander from around the wicket. It was Roach’s 50th wicket against Bangladesh and Mominul’s fourth duck in the West Indies.
The West Indian fielders let their quicks down, but Bangladesh’s batsmen appeared to be prime targets. When Shadman drove in front of the first slide on 15th, Alick Athanaze dropped him because he was unable to hang on.
Then, on eight, Jayden Seales drew Shahadat’s edge with the batter, causing the hilarious drop. At first slip, the ball exploded out of Athanaze’s grasp and headed toward Kavem Hodge, who spilled the rebound, which slipped from Athanaze’s grasp as he attempted to retrieve it.
The rain-induced sluggish outfield also made it difficult to score runs. During his stay of 100 balls, Shadman hit three fours and a six. Shahadat won by a margin of four. Several of their powerful strikes missed the boundaries.
