For Indian basketball, things are at last returning to normal. The most successful basketball coach in India, Scott Flemming, is an American who will shortly rejoin the national team. he, 66, will take over for Serbian coach Veselin Matic, who is scheduled to depart the nation on May 13.
“The tenure of Matic ended recently and he will be going back home,” said Basketball Federation of India (BFI) president Aadhav Arjuna, confirming Scott’s selection as the next head coach of the senior men’s squad.

We have been in communication with Scott for a few months now, and we are pleased to name him as India’s new head coach once again.”
When Scott made the decision to depart India in 2015, BFI was embroiled in a power struggle between two groups for control of the federation administration. Scott then returned to the nation to take up his position as NBA India Academy’s technical director.
After officially opening the junior national tournament in Indore, Arjuna said in an interview with TOI, “Scott brings with him an exceptionally rich 38 years of experience coaching basketball at the highest levels.” During his tenure as India’s head coach from 2012 to 2015, Scott guided the national team to a number of noteworthy victories, including a 2014 victory against China, the top-ranked team in Asia. He offered our countrymen optimism throughout his term, and under Scott, we see a new India.”
