Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper-batter who was left out of India’s Champions Trophy team, had surgery on his finger. The player will probably be ready for the next Indian Premier League (IPL) season, though. Samson sustained the injury after bowler Jofra Archer’s ball hit his right index finger during the fifth and final One-Day International match against England earlier this month. Dhruv Jurel took Samson’s position in the second innings after he was dismissed.

After the procedure, Samson should heal in a month and be ready to play in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
It is anticipated that Samson would require around one month to recuperate from Tuesday’s procedure. He will have ample time to prepare for the IPL, which begins during the weekend of March 21–22–23, according to the article.
Samson’s injury also prevented him from playing for Kerala against Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals.
However, he only scored 51 runs in the five-match encounter that India won 4-1, making it a series to forget against England.
After Samson poor performance against England, former Indian cricket players Ravichandran Ashwin and Kris Srikkanth criticized him.
“…if Sanju keeps getting dismissed like this, as a batter, the mind will be playing tricks,” Ashwin stated.
The bowler is bowling in a particular manner, and I am being dismissed in this manner. Is the bowler bowling well, or am I lacking something? Am I capable of adapting? It gets challenging if a lot of questions come up,” he clarified.
“It appears that Sanju Samson missed the bus. Exiting in the same way for the sixth time. He’s made a shot like that before. I believe he is attempting to flaunt his ego. “No, no, I will play this shot,” is what he’s attempting to communicate. Is he suffering or is he just having an ego trip? In an Inside Sport story, Srikkanth was cited as adding, “I am not sure.”
According to BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla, Samson will now be seen in action during the IPL 2025, which is anticipated to begin on March 23.
Speaking to media at the Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai, Shukla disclosed the IPL 2025 date, stating, “IPL is going to start from March 23.”
The BCCI hasn’t yet released an official comment on the subject, though.
