Tempers flared in the middle as Virat Kohli seemed to have deliberately pushed Australia’s Sam Konstas on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test. Sam Konstas, a youngster, made headlines Thursday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with his blazing 60-run innings in Australia’s Boxing Day Test match against India. Konstas made numerous spectacular strokes during his time in the center, particularly to neutralize the threat posed by Jasprit Bumrah. But the 19-year-old opening batsman and Virat Kohli, “his favourite player in the world,” also got into a furious argument in the middle.

After reaching his first half-century in Test cricket on his debut, Konsta was beaming on the sidelines. The child had no grievances over the Kohli event.
“I believe we were both affected by the feelings. As I was doing my gloves, I didn’t fully realize. However, it does occur in cricket,” Konstas said to 7Cricket, the broadcaster.
In addition, they questioned Konstas about his strategy against Bumrah, particularly in light of the impressive ramp shots he was able to execute against the well-known Indian pacer.
“It wasn’t a plan yesterday I was I was going to play good cricket shots but Bumrah is obviously world class ball and yeah just trying to pull pressure on him trying to change his tactics was the key thing,” he responded.
Following their on-field altercation, Kohli and Konstas spoke briefly with one other. Usman Khawaja, the opener for Australia, had to step in and attempt to defuse the situation by placing an arm around the Indian legend. Michael Gough, the umpire, jumped in and made an effort to keep the peace.
According to several reports, match referee Andy Pycroft will undoubtedly investigate the event and take the necessary measures.
The ICC’s Code of Conduct prohibits any form of inappropriate physical contact in cricket. Players that willfully, carelessly, and/or negligently bump into, shoulder, or walk into another player or umpire shall violate this rule.
If match referee Pycroft determined that the incident was a Level Two infraction, one of Kohli and Konstas would earn three or four demerit points, which might result in suspension. The match referee would impose only a monetary fine if he or she determined that it was a Level 1 offense.
