Experts have made their predictions on the playoff race with less than two days till the IPL 2025 season begins. In an interview with Cricbuzz, former cricket players like Virender Sehwag, Michael Vaughan, and Adam Gilchrist, among others, announced their top four picks for the forthcoming season. Except for former India all-rounder Rohan Gavaskar, no previous cricket player selected Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to place in the top four this season. In addition to RCB, former Indian batsman Sehwag also predicted that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will finish outside of the four playoff spots.

Harsha Bhogle, an experienced cricket analyst, too predicted that RCB will be in the top four. SunRisers Hyderabad was the most popular pick, with eight of the ten experts supporting them to make it to the final.
The BCCI has announced some major adjustments to the IPL regulations ahead of Saturday’s first game between RCB and KKR.
According to news agency PTI, the IPL 2025 captains discussed these rule modifications at their conference in Mumbai on Thursday.
In the Indian Premier League, captains who commit over-rate offenses will receive demerit points rather than a penalty.
The action follows the one-match suspensions of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, the captains of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, respectively, for the team’s third over-rate infraction in the 2024 season.
In the 2025 edition, Hardik will serve out the penalty by skipping the opening match against CSK.
After most captains approved the suggestion, the BCCI also removed the rule on using saliva on the ball, making it the first major cricket league to do so. This limitation was a result of the COVID-19 epidemic.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, when medical professionals recommended rigorous cleanliness practices and physical separation, the International Cricket Council (ICC) outlawed the traditional practice of using saliva to shine the ball as a precaution.
The ICC may now reconsider its position on the matter since the IPL has lifted its suspension.
Additionally, even though rumors suggest that the IPL may lift the Impact Player regulation, the league will keep it in place.
