RCB batting coach Dinesh Karthik predicted a massive price for one South African cricketer in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Teams may have begun planning their auction purchases as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction approaches. Meanwhile, South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee may fetch a huge price at the auction, according to hints made by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting coach Dinesh Karthik. Coetzee is a member of the South African team that is presently playing India in a four-match Twenty20 International series. He was instrumental in the Proteas’ victory over India in the second Twenty20 International.
Before making a batting contribution in the second Twenty20 International, Coetzee took the vital wicket of opener Abhishek Sharma. Coetzee entered the batting order with South Africa at 86/7 and scored a crucial 19 off of nine balls to lead his team to victory.
“I’m not sure how much the Cricket South Africa board is paying him, but I’m sure he’ll get a big paycheck in a few weeks,” Karthik stated on Cricbuzz.
He has practiced his batting and is a thoughtful cricket player. “He’s not a one-trick pony,” Karthik continued.
The Mumbai Indians (MI) acquired Coetzee, who took 13 wickets in 10 games, for INR 5 crore prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League. But before the massive auction, the franchise let him go.
With the second-highest purse of INR 83 cr, RCB has retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal ahead of the major auction.
Karthik was accompanied by Zaheer Khan, the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who also gave Coetzee appreciation.
He has a lot of power when he bats. He seems to be getting ready for this type of job. It appears that he works really hard to fulfill this position. “What really stands out about Coetzee is his desire to contribute throughout the game,” Zaheer added.
