Rashid Khan, an all-rounder with the Gujarat Titans, made his captaincy debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. He called it a “dream come true.” In lieu of regular captain Hardik Pandya, Rashid, the GT vice-captain, led the team that was defending its title against the Chennai Super Kings. The Afghan spinner said he never thought he would be captaining a side in the Indian Premier League during an interview with the GT Podcast.
“It was a memorable match because it was my first IPL captaincy, and it happened to be during Ramadan.” For sehri, I got up at three in the morning. Ashish Nehra sent me a message that said, “Khan sahab, get ready.” Hardik may not play because of his illness. Both pressure and enthusiasm were present. “It was only a dream,” said Rashid.

“I’m from Afghanistan, and I’ll be captaining a club in the Indian Premier League tomorrow. Everything was falling into place right before my eyes when I wanted to go to sleep. I was contemplating what I would say and the attitude that will prevail throughout the toss. I have previously managed Afghanistan, but managing a squad in the Indian Premier League is a new experience.
In relation to the game, CSK was asked to bat first and ended up scoring 169/5.
RR were struggling at 87/5 in response, but David Miller and Rashid Khan altered the tide of play.
Rashid scored 40 runs off of just 21 balls, while Miller finished at 94 (51). Miller was still undefeated.
