Champions Trophy 2025: It has been reported that the Indian government is unlikely to give travel clearance to the team for the tournament in Pakistan.
Former captain of Pakistan Shoaib Malik expressed his opinions over India pulling out of the Champions Trophy in 2025. The question of whether or not India would visit their neighbor has been up for debate ever since Pakistan was given the privilege of hosting the Champions Trophy. It has been more than a year since India and Pakistan last played a bilateral series. Although India last visited Pakistan in 2006, the two countries last participated in a bilateral series that India hosted in 2012–13. It has been stated that the Indian government is unlikely to approve the team’s trip to the competition in Pakistan because of the political rift between the two countries.
For those who don’t know, Pakistan traveled to India for the ICC ODI World Cup last year. Malik has advised the Indian team to visit Pakistan amid the prevailing controversy and to keep politics out of sports.
“Any problems or disagreements that arise between the two nations should be handled independently and whatever they need to be settled. Sports shouldn’t be influenced by politics. The Indian team now has the chance to visit us after the Pakistani team visited India in the previous year. It would be an excellent chance for the Indian team’s players, many of whom I believe have never played in Pakistan. Malik told Cricket Pakistan, “I am sure the Indian team should definitely come. We are very hospitable people.”
A PTI report claims that the PCB has given the ICC the task of persuading India to come to Pakistan for the competition.
The Champions Trophy budget was authorized during the last ICC meetings in Colombo, but there was no debate on the timetable or structure. “Now that the PCB is hosting the Champions Trophy, it has fulfilled its obligation. The event’s budget, draft schedule, and format have all been submitted, according to a PCB insider.
“The timing of the Champions Trophy schedule’s distribution, discussion, and finalization is currently up to the ICC. According to the draft schedule, the PCB recommended holding all of India’s matches—including the semifinal and final, should India advance—in Lahore,” the player stated.
