Due to their suspected participation in match-fixing in their state, the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) has banned two Mizoram football players who are now playing for the city-based team Nongkiew Irat FC in the ongoing Shillong Premier League, according to authorities. The Mizoram Football Association has banned 25 players for their unlawful actions in the sport, including Flavius Lalruakima and C Vanlalhriata, they stated. “Meghalaya Football Association has today decided that it will stand by its sister association and debar the same players from football in Meghalaya,” the MFA stated in a statement.
“We recognize the negative impact match-fixing has on the sport. We’ve made the decision to honor the Mizoram FA’s ruling and make sure that none of the players who have been sanctioned are able to participate in any league run by a district association that is connected to the Meghalaya Football Associations,” the statement said.
Due to their unlawful football-related actions, the Mizoram FA banned three officials, three clubs, and twenty-five players from all football-related activities for a range of lengths of time, from one year to life.
Following an investigation by the state’s law enforcement authorities, which found instances of corruption in the form of match manipulation that damaged football’s reputation, the decision was taken.
