Ibrahima Konate, a defender for Liverpool, has expressed frustration about his knee injury, which will prevent him from playing against Manchester City in Sunday’s Premier League matchup at the top of the league. After a run-in with Brazilian forward Endrick, Konate picked up the problem in the final seconds of the Reds’ 2-0 Champions League victory over Real Madrid. Liverpool’s incredible start to Arne Slot’s tenure as manager largely attributes to the French international’s play. Liverpool has won all five of their Champions League matches and leads the Premier League by eight points.
After taking Jarell Quansah’s place at halftime of the season opener at Ipswich, Konate has started every Premier League and Champions League game since.
Although Liverpool has not announced the length of the 25-year-old’s absence, rumors indicate it may be as long as six weeks.
Konate posted on Instagram, saying, “It was really annoying to sustain this injury just after a fantastic game on Wednesday night.”
“The healing process has begun, but I swear that I will return and be the best version of myself. I appreciate all of the wonderful help at Anfield.
