Leny Yoro, a teenage defender from Lille in Ligue 1, has signed a deal with Premier League team Manchester United that runs until 2029. In order to announce the acquisition of the 18-year-old defender, Manchester United issued the following official statement: “Leny Yoro has joined the club, subject to registration. The French defender agreed to a deal that runs until June 2029 with a one-year option to extend.”
Yoro, who is 18 years old, has already appeared in 60 games for Lille’s first squad. He was also named to the Ligue 1 Team of the Season in the previous campaign. He was instrumental in Lille’s fourth-place league finish the previous year.
“It is an amazing honor to sign with a team as prestigious and ambitious as Manchester United at such a young age in my career. According to the club’s official release, Yoro said after signing with Manchester United, “Since our first talks, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.”
“I feel that Manchester United, together with my new teammates, can be the ideal venue for me to realize my potential and accomplish my goals because of the club’s history of producing young players. “I am eager to begin,” he continued.
The teenage defender has all the makings of a premier center back, according to Dan Ashworth, the sports director of Manchester United.
“Leny has all the makings of a premier center-back; he’s one of the most exciting young defenders in world football.” We are thrilled to help him at Manchester United as he pursues his enormous potential after such a spectacular debut,” Ashworth stated.
“This club has an outstanding track record of nurturing young players, whether they are imported or local, and providing them with the necessary support, time, and patience to mature and thrive.
We’ll make sure Leny has the ideal foundation to reach the success that everyone at the club is striving for under Erik ten Hag and our outstanding team,” he continued.
