With two goals in a 4-2 victory against lowly Heidenheim on Saturday, Jamal Musiala came off the bench to save an injured Bayern Munich team and put his team six points ahead in the Bundesliga. Frankfurt, in second place, lost a one-goal lead against Augsburg 2-2 at home in this round, as the top four clubs are all playing opponents in the bottom half. Harry Kane’s absence was evident as Bayern controlled the game but failed to convert pressure into points. Eighteen minutes in, Dayot Upamecano headed from a corner to give the German powerhouses a one-goal lead at halftime.

Early in the second half, the France defense turned villainous by passing straight to Mathias Honsak, who eagerly embraced the opportunity to tie the score.
Musiala was hauled off the bench by Bayern manager Vincent Kompany, whose team lost to Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup midweek, and five minutes later the 21-year-old smashed in.
Heidenheim struck again, this time through Niklas Dorsch, to keep the pressure on the home team after Leon Goretzka’s late strike put Bayern on track.
Musiala, who scored his second goal by dribbling on the counter from the half-way line, would have the last word.
Bayern veteran Thomas Mueller commended Musiala, telling Sky, “We expect that from him now, what he’s doing.”
