Travis Head, the opener for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Australia, suffered a setback on Thursday against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, when he was limited to just one run in the Indian Premier League.
Head’s batting was abruptly ended when he was caught by Karn Sharma off a top-edge by Will Jacks, an all-rounder for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. This IPL season, the opener’s difficulty against spin bowling has been apparent.
Head’s strike rate against spin is 150, and he has only scored 63 runs at an average of 15.75.
On the other hand, he has had an incredible strike rate of 236 and 262 runs at an average of 87.33 while playing against pace. Head is still undisputedly the best against pace, even after being dismissed three times by pacers.
Travis Head has scored 325 runs this season at a scorching strike rate of 212.41 and an amazing average of 46.42. He has two fifty-fives and a century among them, with a best score of 102. He is currently the tournament’s fifth-highest run scorer.
While Head’s recent struggles against spin may be cause for concern, his overall record in the 2024 Indian Premier League has been excellent, demonstrating his capacity to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad to significant innings.
