Following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday night, Virat Kohli’s reactions captured the essence of his team’s spirit. With a 35-run victory in Hyderabad, RCB just about made it into the playoffs.
In 20 overs, RCB, defending 207, held SRH to 171/8. They included the most successful batting side in the IPL 2024 thanks to a team effort from their bowling section. Cameron Green, an all-round player, claimed two wickets while playing well. Karn Sharma and Swapnil Singh both managed two wickets each in the meanwhile.
Kohli burst into laughter and was beaming as he was applauded by the pacer after Yash Dayal delivered the last over of the run chase.

The remarks made by Faf du Plessis during the post-match ceremony also eloquently encapsulated the atmosphere in the camp. “Tonight’s sleep will be simpler. You cannot lie or talk your way into the group with confidence. Confidence is only given by one’s performance. You’ll be harmed if you’re not at your best since the teams and competition are so powerful. Guys are now scoring runs in greater numbers. Just Virat was scoring runs throughout the first half of the competition. It will be huge for Greeny to score runs now,” he remarked.
Du Plessis also summed up the Bengaluru pitch conditions as the cause of RCB’s bowling problems this season. “We are aware of it, Chinnaswamy, and it has greatly irritated us. It’s a challenging field to bowl on. It’s difficult, but we’ve attempted to discover a recipe for it,” he said.
Virat Kohli scored 51 off 43 balls as RCB first reached 206/7 in 20 overs. Cameron Green was still undefeated at 37* off 20 deliveries, while Rajat Patidar struck a rapid 20 runs off 50 balls. Three wickets were taken by Jaydev Unadkat for the SRH bowling unit. RCB, who are now bottom of the standings, will play Gujarat Titans on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
