The organizers have somewhat adjusted the IPL 18th season schedule, starting the competition one week later than initially planned. According to information obtained by Cricbuzz, the season will kick off on March 21 in Kolkata, and they anticipate holding the championship game there on May 25.
Regarding the modifications to the Season 18 schedule, there are two versions. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously informed the franchises on November 22, before to the IPL auction in Jeddah, that the competition will take place from “Friday, March 14, to Sunday, May 25, 2025.” The BCCI also revealed the dates for the upcoming two IPL seasons.

But now, people argue that those dates didn’t represent the real calendar; rather, they only represented the window set aside for the season.
According to the second version, the broadcasters requested a later start because the schedule places the Champions Trophy final on March 9, five days before the IPL kickoff, which caused the delay. Sources inside the broadcasting network, however, have denied submitting such a request.
The main games’ locations are as anticipated. In keeping with the custom of hosting these games in the hometown of the victorious team, Eden Gardens, home of the Kolkata Knight Riders, the 2024 IPL winners, will host both the opening and the championship game. The runners-up from the previous season, the SunRisers Hyderabad, will host two playoff games in the interim.
Now that the BCCI has elected Devjit Saikia as the full-term secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as the treasurer, we anticipate that they will reveal the precise schedule in the days ahead. Members selected both officials at Sunday’s (January 12) Special General Meeting in Mumbai.
Cricbuzz reported that BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla also disclosed that they will release the Champions Trophy team on January 17 or 18.
