Given India’s geopolitical and border concerns with Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the 2025 IPL season by one week. Within the next several days, the board will provide information on the revised schedule and sites for the tournament, which still has up to 16 matches left.
Former England captain and knowledgeable analyst Michael Vaughan has recently suggested that the BCCI hold the remaining IPL 2025 in England in the middle of ongoing negotiations.

Michael Vaughan advises BCCI to host IPL in England
Shortly after the BCCI said that the IPL 2025 would be suspended, former England captain Michael Vaughan took to X to suggest that the Indian board hold the remaining games in the UK. He went on to say that Indian Test players may remain in the nation for the upcoming Test series against the hosts in June by participating in the IPL 2025 in England.
In addition to India, the BCCI has staged the IPL in South Africa and the United Arab Emirates in the past. The UAE has hosted several IPL seasons, either as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak or India’s general elections, while South Africa hosted the full 2009 competition.
A day after the Punjab Kings’ home match against the Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was called off after just ten overs due to security concerns and floodlight failure, the BCCI banned the IPL 2025 season.
Notably, the Indian squad will go to England to play a set of five Test matches beginning in Leeds on June 20th, just after the IPL. Additionally, the series will introduce the WTC 2025–2027 cycle in India.
