The IPL 2025 has been halted for a week because to the warlike scenario between India and Pakistan. There is no indication that the political tensions between the neighboring countries will decrease.
A BCCI official told PTI, “It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war.”
“The BCCI is steadfastly supporting the country at this crucial moment. In a formal statement, the BCCI said, “We show our solidarity with the Government of India, the Armed Forces, and the people of our country.”

“The nation and its sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country are greater than cricket, which is still a national passion,” it said.
With the final set for May 25 in Kolkata, the cricket event was approaching its playoff round. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants were scheduled to play each other at Ekana Stadium on May 9.
Due to security concerns, the Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals IPL game was canceled on May 8.
India-Pakistan tension
Earlier on May 8, during a massive counter-drone operation along the Line of Control and International Borders, the Indian Army shot down more than fifty Pakistani drones at night. Pakistan has attempted, but failed, to launch swarm drones into India.
In locations like Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot, Indian Army Air Defence forces swiftly responded and destroyed the drones.
The events of April 22 are the cause of the current tension between India and Pakistan. Twenty-six persons, primarily Hindu tourists, were killed as militants stormed Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley.
Armed with weapons, they shot non-Muslims and verified faith using IDs or prayers. India accused Pakistan of supporting terrorist organizations. Later, India destroyed terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) by launching military assaults.
PBKS vs DC match called off
Growing border tensions forced the cancellation of the May 8 IPL match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala after 10.1 overs. Fans were instructed to vacate the stadium and floodlights were switched off.
Initially, it was said that a lighting malfunction was the reason the contest ended. The real motive was later disclosed.
Reports of aerial threats near Pathankot, which is only 90 km away, prompted prompt action from officials. Panic swept the field as players were safely removed from it.
