Former Indian spinner Sridharan Sriram has joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as assistant bowling coach, filling a void left by Dwayne Bravo’s exit. Sriram, who formerly worked as a spin consultant for Australia and Bangladesh and as a batting and spin coach for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a few years, will play for the Super Kings in his native Chennai in the 2025 IPL.

CSK announced the signing on X (previously Twitter) with the words, “Brought up from the tracks of Chepauk to a packed portfolio of coaching tenures in Australia and Bangladesh, he embarks on this new journey with the pride!” As part of an all-star support staff, Sriram will work alongside head coach Stephen Fleming, batting coach Michael Hussey, and bowling coach Eric Simmons.
Before playing for India in eight One-Day Internationals, Sriram, a left-arm spinner and useful hitter, participated in 133 First-Class matches and 147 List-A games. Sriram began coaching in 2016, has a strong resume, and has previously worked as a pundit and commentator. Bravo, who moved across leagues to serve as a coach for the Knight Riders team, will be replaced by Sriram.
In what may be MS Dhoni’s last season in yellow, the Chennai Super Kings will be eager to make apologies after missing out on the playoffs the previous season. Despite keeping players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, and Matheesha Pathirana, CSK has made some significant changes to their team and lineup.
The joint five-time winners appear to have a well-rounded roster with additions like Khaleel Ahmed and Noor Ahmad in the bowling department, the return of Devon Conway, R Ashwin, and Sam Curran, and the recruitment of strong local backups in Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, and Vijay Shankar.
