Under the guidance of two-time World Cup champion MS Dhoni, the Indian cricket team last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, beating England. Under Virat Kohli, India made it to the final in 2017, however they lost to Pakistan.
The organizers have revealed the Indian team for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host. Remarkably, just three members of the winning 2013 squad are still playing.

Veterans of the momentous victory in 2013
The 2025 squad includes only three members of the 2013 winning team: captain Rohit Sharma, former captain Virat Kohli, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Leading the Indian cricket team’s attempts to win the championship again would be largely dependent on these seasoned players.
Players who have retired
Eight players from the 2013 team—MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Suresh Raina, Murali Vijay, R Ashwin, Irfan Pathan, and R Vinay Kumar—have hung up their boots.
Active players not included in the 2025 Champions Trophy squad
Despite not playing for the national team in recent years, four players from the 2013 squad are still active. They are Amit Mishra, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

The organizers have scheduled the competition to return after an eight-year hiatus, featuring 15 exciting matches spread over 19 days. The tournament will begin on February 19 and end on March 9 with the final.
