KKR’s title-winning captain Shreyas Iyer will be among the marquee players who will be going under the hammer in the Indian Premier League Auction 2025.
The Indian Premier League Auction 2025 will include a number of high-profile players, including Shreyas Iyer, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the title. Iyer guided KKR to the IPL 2024 championship. Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar of India believes that KKR may choose Iyer in the bidding battle. Iyer’s former team, the Delhi Capitals, would also attempt to sign the right-handed batsman, he added.
Gavaskar believes the team will use the Right to Match (RTM) option in an attempt to keep him at the auction.
“Shreyas Iyer was the captain when KKR won the 2024 Indian Premier League. There may occasionally be a dispute about the money, as I previously stated regarding Rishabh Pant as well,” Gavaskar stated on Star Sports’ program “Game Plan.”
But I also think that KKR could place a bid for Shreyas Iyer‘s services whenever he enters the auction. I believe Delhi will bid if KKR doesn’t. Delhi will want him as, in the event that Rishabh Pant is not available, they will also need to recruit a captain.
Therefore, I think Delhi will attempt to utilize the RTM card or re-incorporate Rishabh Pant into their squad at the auction,” he added.
Ahead of the impending major auction, KKR kept six players: Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, and Harshit Rana.
