After her impressive debut series against India, Australian opener Georgia Voll has been selected to the team for the forthcoming three-match ODI tour of New Zealand, which starts on December 19. After a pivotal 46* in the first game, the 21-year-old earned her first ODI century in the second match at Brisbane’s Allan Border Field. With 147 runs in two games, she is presently the series’ highest scorer.
Voll’s latest success, however, stems from the Women’s Big Bash League, when she scored 330 runs in 12 games, ranking sixth in the league, helping her team, the Sydney Thunder, advance to the Challenger before falling to the eventual runners-up, the Brisbane Heat.

Following her first century on Sunday, Ellyse Perry showered Voll with accolades. “She’s just really unflappable, and just seems to take every opportunity in her stride,” added Perry. “I believe that the only thing you can expect of any player is to keep pushing everyone around them, play to the best of their abilities, and take advantage of any chance they receive.
“They will receive benefits, either immediately or later, if they can grasp that. In Georgia’s instance, she has undoubtedly made a lasting impression on the squad and selectors moving ahead.
Previously, the team included Voll only as a stand-in for skipper Alyssa Healy, who sustained a knee injury during the Women’s Big Bash League.
Gavan Twining, the head coach of the NSW Breakers, will join the club for the next two years as a full-time fielding and wicketkeeping coach. He will collaborate with Dan Marsh and Scott Prestwidge, two other assistant coaches.
