Hansi Flick, the coach of Barcelona, stated that he is still optimistic that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor will be able to play for the team this season.
Following Barça’s failure to meet a deadline on December 31 to demonstrate compliance with the league’s financial fair play (FFP) regulations, La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) declared on Saturday that they had denied Barça’s request to re-register the pair.

With a clause in his contract that would allow him to depart for free if he stays unregistered for the second half of the season, Olmo, a €60 million ($61.9 million) summer acquisition from RB Leipzig, is reportedly devoted to Barça, according to Flick.
“I have the confidence that the club will do it,” Flick said during a press conference following Saturday’s Copa del Rey victory at Barbastro, which Olmo and Víctor were both unable to attend (4-0).
“I talked to Dani this morning, and he wants to play for Barça. He and Pau Víctor are both necessary. They play really well. We require both of them. We must wait. Right now, this is our only option.
Barça secured their spot in the Copa round of 16 thanks to goals from Eric García and Pablo Torre, as well as a brace from Robert Lewandowski. Flick insisted that the turmoil surrounding Olmo and Víctor would not have an impact on the club.
“I think everyone wants that both of them are back because they are important players for our offence,” he stated.
“We played with great attention today. We played as we pleased. Nothing about that caused the crew to feel or observe any suffering. We had to play because we are professionals, and the squad performed well.”

Ronald Araújo, a defender who made his season debut against Barbastro, also stated that he wanted Barça to resolve the Olmo and Víctor matter as quickly as possible.
He told reporters, “It’s left a bad taste because they are our teammates.” “We’re hoping the club can work things out. We now need to focus on Wednesday’s Supercopa [semifinal] matchup with Athletic Club.”
Araújo played 90 minutes on Saturday, his first since he injured his hamstring while playing for Uruguay at the Copa América in July.
“I’m really happy to win the game, but also on a personal level to be back and play 90 minutes,” he stated.
“I was unsure if I could play the entire game. I answered “yes” when the instructor asked if I felt comfortable enough to continue. The accumulation of minutes is crucial. I am overjoyed.
Lamine Yamal might also be able to play in the Supercopa next week after recovering from an ankle ailment, according to Flick, while Raphinha will accompany the team to Saudi Arabia even though he missed the Barbastro match due to a “small problem.”
On Wednesday, Barça will play Athletic in Jeddah; the winners will play Real Madrid or Mallorca in the January 12 final.
