India are set to play on a green pitch at the Optus Stadium at Perth in the first Test against Australia.
It’s possible that Australia is getting a green field ready for Team India’s first Test match at Perth’s Optus Stadium. According to a report, quick bowlers would benefit from the Optus outfield and pitch still being quite green. Therefore, in the first Test, India may face serious opposition from Australia’s renowned speed bowling combination of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and skipper Pat Cummins. Additionally, according on the pitch conditions, India can start the game with just one spinner.
The Optus pitch for the first Test was still quite green and had also been thoroughly irrigated, according to a report from RevSportz. The circumstances, which would benefit fast bowling, will thus probably support rumors that India will give fast bowler Harshit Rana and pace-bowling all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy their debuts.
Therefore, for the first Test, one of Ravindra Jadeja or Ravichandran Ashwin can be benched.
The Indian batting squad, which will be missing captain Rohit Sharma and first-choice No. 3 batsman Shubman Gill, may also have difficulties due to the conditions favoring speed. Gill fractured his thumb during practice, and Rohit has not yet arrived in Australia after the birth of his baby.
India’s first Test captain will be Jasprit Bumrah in Rohit’s place. India lost the fifth Test match against England in Birmingham, the only other time Bumrah captained the country.
Although Bumrah will undoubtedly play and spearhead India’s attack, there is competition for the other two pure speed bowling positions. Prasidh Krishna made an impression for India A in Australia, Mohammed Siraj has experience there, Akash Deep has been playing well lately, and Harshit Rana has drawn notice during practice.
