The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will probably postpone the much-awaited announcement of India’s 2025 Champions Trophy (CT) team past the deadline set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday, January 12.
The Indian cricket governing body is probably going to request extra time from the ICC to submit their team for the major tournament, according to a report by Cricbuzz. By the end of next weekend (January 18 or 19), we now anticipate an announcement.
The report cites India’s recent engagement in Australia, where the squad took part in a demanding five-match Test series as part of the Champions Trophy, as the cause of the delay.
Normally, teams must submit the roster one month before the competition begins; however, this time, the ICC requested that they submit their entries five weeks early. Up to February 12, all clubs are free to make roster changes for any reason.

Ajit Agarkar directs the selection committee, and the committee is expected to reveal the team for the five-match Twenty20 International series against England within the next few days. In the game’s shortest format, experts anticipate that the team will resemble the one that competed against Bangladesh in a home series in October.
Days before the 2025 Champions Trophy kicks off on February 19, India and England will also play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) from February 6–12.
According to the public information, the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru’s sports science wing has approved Mohammed Shami’s return to the Indian squad. He will play again in the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy, but his spot in the T20I squad is uncertain.
