Five players, including Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa, have been added to England’s team for their Nations League matches against Greece and Ireland this month after eight players pulled out. Before turning the reins over to Thomas Tuchel, interim manager Lee Carsley is in charge of his final two games, which are at Athens on Thursday and Wembley three days later. Following the withdrawal of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jack Grealish, and Phil Foden from the team, Carsley will be missing a number of senior players, including seven from the top four Premier League teams.

After making an impression for Unai Emery’s Villa team this season, scoring three goals and dishing out three assists, attacking midfielder Rogers, 22, has been called up for the first time as a senior.
The team has also recruited James Trafford, Tino Livramento, who has not yet been capped, and Jarrod Bowen and Jarrad Branthwaite.
In the second half of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea, Rice and Saka of Arsenal were sent off.
Despite suffering a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Aston Villa, Alexander-Arnold is expected to make a comeback later this month.
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, had previously voiced his surprise at Grealish’s call-up despite the fact that he hadn’t played for his team since October 20.
After the Nations League matches, Carsley will resume his duties as manager of the England Under-21 team, where Tuchel took over in January.
England’s prospects of being promoted automatically from the Nations League’s second division would be destroyed if they lost in Athens.
