After Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Leicester increased their advantage at the top of the league, manager Arne Slot stated it was “too early” to declare that his team was on the path to the Premier League title. With one game remaining, Liverpool is now seven points ahead of Chelsea in second place, while Arsenal can close the gap to six points on Friday when they play Ipswich. However, in his first season as manager after taking over from Jurgen Klopp, Dutchman Slot is still wary of the idea of winning the Premier League at Anfield for the first time since 2020.

Following Jordan Ayew’s early goal for Leicester, goals from Cody Gakpo, Curtis Jones, and Mohamed Salah helped turn the tide. “If you are in this game for a long time like the players and I am, then 20 games before the end you don’t look at it as there are so many challenges ahead of you,” he said.
“Injuries and a bit of bad luck can happen to any team, it is far too early to be already celebrating — but it is nice for us to be where we are.”
“I don’t think we had an easy win in any of these games,” Slot said. “We might have easily defeated Tottenham, but we let up two goals, which shows you how hard it is to win even when you have all of your players available.
We must thus play each game as it comes. Naturally, we are aware of the league table, but we also always know how many games are left.
