Christian Pulisic of AC Milan is one of five players who have been rested from the US national team in preparation for their friendly against Mexico on Tuesday.

Christian Pulisic, a striker for AC Milan, is one of five players off the American national team’s roster ahead of their friendly against Mexico on Tuesday, US Soccer said on Sunday. In Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Panama in Austin, Texas, Pulisic put up the opening goal for the United States. It was also new US coach Mauricio Pochettino of Argentina’s winning debut. AC Milan released the 26-year-old winger, who has played a significant amount of minutes for both his Italian team and the US team over the last month, on Sunday.
Due to minor injuries, their respective clubs sent Marlon Fossey, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi, and Zack Steffen back for further assessment and care.
“As we have said, we are always going to make decisions that are in the best interest of our players and respect the relationship we have with their clubs,” added Pochettino.
The organizers will not expand the US roster prior to Tuesday’s game in Guadalajara against bitter foe Mexico.
